Title: Isolated Incidents
Timepiece (left), Snake Charmer (right)

Year: 1996

Medium: (left) Metal shelf, 60 rpm motor, pewter vase, silk flowers; (right) portable stereo, audio cables, extension cords, headphones, radio static

Description: The two components of Isolated Incidents bring together kinetic and audio art to create a disrupted still-life. The 60 rpm motor of Timepiece causes the vase and its artificial flowers to shudder constantly at a rate of once per second, while Snake Charmer creates a low hiss of radio static that is barely audible from the headphones attached to the wall high above.
